This Autumn equinox I am sharing a druidic hedgerow symphonia, an improvised interspecies composition for healing and meditation. Recorded over the course of a week in five sessions, the sounds you hear are entirely comprised of noises generated by over 15 different plants and trees that inhabit and surround a magical field right here in the rural heartland of Devon UK. The intention was set with the trees and plants to come together and transport the listener to this sacred place and space, to learn of their teachings and reconnect with the wheel of the year.
Very little editing has been done by me, with what you hear only the sounds played by Oak, Ash, Beech and Birch. The Hazel and Gorse, the Blackthorn and Hawthorn. The Bramble and Rose, the Nettle and Dock and many others. The Human interaction by me is encouragement and being part of the conversation. Some plants were helped and inspired to sing for us with light touches of a loving hand and voice. I have also chosen the key and scale for this song, with the instruments that the plants and trees play designed, created and mixed by me, but the rest is all just them. For the last year I have been working on the release of a Druid Medicine album featuring many works with all manner of plants and trees sacred to these Isles. This composition serves as a taster of the forthcoming opus.
So let us celebrate the beauty of Autumn 🍂 and the turning of the wheel together, and unite to create and forge deep kindnesses and abundance, so we may help all beings into their own fruition. May there be equality In the turning.
